Homecoming matches announced
The Canadian men’s national team (CANMNT) is set to return to Canada for international matches against Chile and Peru this September and October. These games will be the team’s first in front of home fans since their historic performance at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Canada Soccer, in conjunction with Federación de Fútbol de Chile (FFCh) and Federación Peruana de Fútbol (FPF), announced the fixtures. The CANMNT will host Chile at BMO Field in Toronto on September 26, followed by a match against Peru at Stade Saputo in Montréal on October 3.
Head coach Jesse Marsch expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming matches, stating that the momentum created for the sport in the country has been incredible. He highlighted these games as an opportunity to thank the fans and build upon the team’s achievements at the World Cup, hoping for a hero’s welcome from Canadians.
A summer of historic achievements
The CANMNT‘s FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign marked the most successful in the program’s history. The team began with a 1:1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina before securing their first-ever World Cup win with a 6:0 victory over Qatar. A 2:1 loss to Switzerland in the final group stage match was sufficient for Canada to advance to the knockout stage for the first time.
The team continued its historic run with a 1:0 victory over South Africa, featuring a 92nd-minute winner from Stephen Eustáquio, which propelled them into the Round of 16. Their journey concluded with a 3:0 defeat to Morocco in Houston on July 4.
During their World Cup campaign, CANMNT achieved several notable records:
- The first men’s World Cup point, win, knockout-stage appearance, and Round of 16 appearance.
- The biggest-ever World Cup win margin by a CONCACAF Nation, with the 6:0 win against Qatar.
- Tied the biggest-ever win margin by a World Cup host nation, also with the 6:0 victory over Qatar.
- Became the first team outside Europe or South America to score six goals in a World Cup match.
- Jonathan David scored a hat trick against Qatar, marking the first hat trick by a CONCACAF player at a World Cup since 1930.
- The match against Qatar was the most-watched World Cup Group Stage match on record in Canada, with 11.7 million unique viewers.
Looking ahead and ticket information
Beyond these two homecoming matches, Canada’s fall schedule includes the Concacaf Nations League A Quarterfinals in November. Canada finished third in the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League A and received a direct bye into the quarterfinals, bypassing the September/October Group Stage. These quarterfinals will be a two-legged, home-and-away series, with the winners advancing to the Concacaf Nations League Finals in March 2027.
The 2026-27 Concacaf Nations League also serves as a qualification pathway for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup, with the four quarter-final winners directly qualifying. Canada Soccer is also working to finalize additional opportunities within the expanded September-October FIFA window.
Tickets for the CANMNT matches against Chile and Peru will be available to the public starting Friday, July 31, via CanadaSoccer.com. Advance presale windows are available for CanadaRED members, who are encouraged to join or upgrade their membership by 11:59 p.m. ET the night before their applicable membership tier presale begins to secure early access.
As the official payment services sponsor of Canada Soccer, Visa is offering cardholders an opportunity to purchase tickets in advance of the public on-sale date. The Visa presale will open on Thursday, July 30, at 10:00 a.m. ET, and Visa will be the only accepted payment method during this period.
Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more tickets for the match against Chile at BMO Field, offering up to 30% off regular priced tickets. Group ticket requests can be submitted through the group order form on canadasoccer.com starting Friday, July 31.
