Canada’s strong showing in gymnastics
Canada has seen success in gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games, with both men’s and women’s teams securing medals. The women’s artistic gymnastics team earned a silver medal on Saturday, achieving a score of 157.300. This marked the second consecutive day that Canada reached the podium in the competition. The team demonstrated depth, consistency, and resilience across all four apparatus.
The silver-medal winning women’s team included Ellie Black, Gabrielle Black, Lia-Monica Fontaine, Lia Redick, and Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte. Individually, Fontaine delivered a strong performance on vault, while Ellie Black showcased one of the team’s top routines on the balance beam. Redick’s dynamic floor exercise and Guerrier-Calixte’s vault score also contributed significantly to the team’s overall performance. Gabrielle Black also made a valuable contribution to the team.
Ellie Black expressed her excitement about competing again, noting that this was her first all-around competition since returning to the sport. She mentioned that she had only recently resumed training for vault and floor, and those events were still progressing.
