Koivun’s Victory at TPC Twin Cities
Jackson Koivun secured a three-stroke victory at the 3M Open, marking his first win as a professional in only his third start. The 21-year-old golfer finished with a tournament-record 25-under 259 total at TPC Twin Cities. His final round included a bogey-free 5-under 66.
This achievement makes Koivun the seventh first-time winner of the season and the fourth rookie winner. He previously missed the cut at the John Deere Classic and tied for 10th at the ISCO Championship earlier in the month. Koivun led Auburn to the NCAA championship last month.
Koivun collected 500 FedExCup points and $1,584,000 from the record $8.8 million prize fund. With this win, he is exempt as a PGA TOUR winner through 2028 and has secured exemptions into the 2027 editions of THE PLAYERS Championship, the Masters, and the PGA Championship. He has also risen to 70th in the FedExCup standings and is expected to reach approximately 75th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Tournament Highlights and Other Performances
Koivun’s victory saw him fend off Scottie Scheffler, who finished in solo second. Scheffler posted an 8-under 63 in the final round, which was also bogey-free. This marks Scheffler’s fifth runner-up finish of the season, alongside one win and several other top-four placements. His latest performance further extends his lead in the FedExCup.
Other notable performances at the 3M Open included Hideki Matsuyama, Brian Harman, Chandler Phillips, and Denny McCarthy, who all tied for third place at 20-under.
The tournament saw several strong rounds, including Ben Kohles’ 9-under 62 in the opening round. Michael Kim became the 16th golfer in PGA TOUR history to achieve a sub-60 round with a 12-under 59 in his second round. Koivun himself posted a 61 in the third round, establishing a three-stroke lead heading into the final day. He played his last 42 holes of the tournament bogey-free, at 18-under par.

In other golf news, Lucas Herbert achieved the lowest 72-hole score in LIV Golf history, finishing the LIV Golf United Kingdom at 30-under. He led his team, Ripper GC, to the team title. Herbert closed with a 10-under 62, following an opening 61 that broke the course record at JCB Golf & Country Club. Tyrrell Hatton finished second at 24-under, and Bryson DeChambeau was third at 21-under.
On the PGA Tour Champions, Jerry Kelly won the Senior British Open by two shots, securing his third senior major title. He shot a 2-under 68 on the Kings course at Gleneagles, finishing at 10-under 270. Cameron Percy, Darren Fichardt, and Matt Gogel tied for second.
For the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour, Jenny Shin of South Korea claimed her first LPGA Tour victory in over 10 years at the Women’s Scottish Open. She finished at 9-under after a 3-over 75 on the Dundonald Links. A Lim Kim was second, two strokes behind.
On the Korn Ferry Tour, Tommy Morrison won the Evans Scholars Invitational for his first title, shooting an 8-under 63 for a three-stroke victory. He finished at 29-under at The Glen Club. Dylan Menante secured second place.
Additional tour results include Christine Wang’s first Epson Tour title at the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship, finishing at 13-under. Germany’s Anton Albers won the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge in the Czech Republic, and Canadian Etienne Papineau secured his first PGA Tour Americas victory at the Osprey Valley Open.
