Altercation Details Emerge in Las Vegas
Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, former teammates for the Miami Heat, were reportedly involved in a physical altercation in Las Vegas on Friday morning. Sources indicate the incident occurred at a practice court within a Las Vegas hotel, where Adebayo reportedly struck Herro in the head area.
The confrontation reportedly began when Adebayo approached Herro regarding comments the guard had made on social media. These comments, critiquing Adebayo’s performance, were reportedly made after Herro’s seven-year tenure with the Heat concluded following his trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Herro was seen courtside at the Thomas & Mack Center for a summer league game between the Heat and the Bucks on Friday. During a broadcast interview at the game, Herro stated, “It’s all love in Miami,” when asked about seeing his former team. He mentioned interacting with former teammates, coaching staff, and front office personnel, adding that both sides were content with the change. Herro also commented on the business aspect of the sport, noting that an organization like Miami seeks championships.

Context of Recent Team Changes
The trade that sent Herro to Milwaukee was part of a larger deal that brought Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat on June 22. The Heat’s trade package to Milwaukee included Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick.
Prior to this trade, reports suggested that Adebayo was the only player the Heat were unwilling to include in trade discussions. This stance reportedly led to a “level of resentment” among some former Heat players regarding Adebayo’s perceived status within the organization as a “chosen one.” These players reportedly felt that Adebayo was never part of trade rumors and also signed a substantial extension with the team.
Adebayo signed a three-year, $166 million extension with Miami in June 2024. The alleged social media comments by Herro reportedly questioned whether Adebayo’s defensive effort consistently merited a player earning $60 million.
Player Performance and Team Outlook
Adebayo, who has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Heat since being selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, has accumulated several accolades. He has earned six All-Defensive selections and three All-Star nods, contributing to the team’s two NBA Finals appearances. During the 2025-26 season, Adebayo averaged 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field. He also expanded his shooting range, making 127 three-pointers after hitting 102 triples in his first eight seasons combined.
Herro, a former Sixth Man of the Year award winner, averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 33 games during the 2025-26 season, having missed the beginning of the season due to left ankle surgery. He was named an All-Star during the 2024-25 season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds in 77 games.
Following the trade, Adebayo will now share the spotlight with Antetokounmpo as they aim to improve the Heat’s standing in the Eastern Conference after their 43-39 finish. Herro was seen dapping up Bucks’ summer league players and chatting with Jaime Jaquez Jr. after Friday’s game before departing without commenting on the incident with Adebayo.
Both the Heat and the Bucks have declined to comment on the reported altercation. Bucks coach Taylor Jenkins also offered a “no comment” when asked about the incident during an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Adebayo was named to the All-Defensive first team in 2023-24 and has been named to the All-Defensive second team five times, including last season. He scored a franchise-record 83 points against the Washington Wizards in March.
